Arlington, Virginia
First opened in 1941, Reagan National Airport (DCA) now serves more than 23 million passengers per year. The airport commissioned a $650 million modernization, adding a 14-gate concourse, expanding security screening areas, and enhancing shopping and dining options for ticketed passengers. The expansion includes a new airport-wide, audio-over-IP, public address system.
Features
- Expanded terminal required more than 400 loudspeakers for sufficient audio coverage – 18 sensors monitor ambient noise levels and dynamically adjust speaker volumes to ensure audibility
- Concourse includes paging stations for real-time flight and safety announcements
- Automated messaging allows the airport to share FAA announcements and important local information 24-hours a day
